Asian ROM Fixes

Okay first thing first, things you will need:
  1. A MPx220 of course :D
  2. A USB Data CAble
  3. Motorola Offline Updater
  4. Rom File that you want
Okay, to get the Motorola Offline Updater, go to Surreal NetworksFree Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us
And click on Register Now (pointed out in the picture above) and well, register!

Okay, after you do that, and are signed in and everything, go to the home page (http://www.surrealnetworks.com,) click downloads at the top, Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us then to main directory, Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us scroll down until you see MPx220 and click on ROM updates, Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us Go to page two of the ROM updates section and click "MPx220 Offline Updater v1.8.5" as in the picture below, Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

then click on the green button (Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us)

After that I'm sure you know what to do. Well, as installing the actual program goes.

Next part is to: Install the driver called Smartfon.inf it can be found here

Download the file, extract the file, remove the battery from your phone, plug the phone (with no battery into the computer with your USB data cable, when a yellow bubble (or 2) pops up saying new ______ found, you can ignore it and the screen below will show up. Then follow picture instructions below:
1.Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us2.Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us3.Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us
4.Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us5.Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us6.Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us
7.Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us8.Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

NOW... REMOVE THE USB CABLE FROM PHONE AND COMPUTER!

Okay... now you have to choose which ROM you want. There are several types:
Asian - what I prefer, NOT FOR N00Bs/Newbies, includes WMP10, MUST DO TWEAKING
Generic - just a normal US ROM that is unbranded
Cingular/AT&T - Like generic ROMs but include pre-set settings for Cingular MEdia Net/AT&T Mmode

You can find ROMs at Surreal Networks you do the same thing as before but install a ROM instead of update tool. This should be easy to do.

Now... after you download the ROM you want, unzip it.
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHERE THIS FILE IS ---
I RECCOMEND PUTTING IT IN A FOLDER ON YOUR DESKTOP
Now go here (http://www.box.net/public/dahq78pt2k) and download "Motorola Update Screenshots.zip" and unzip that.

I will give instructions according to the step of each screenshot NOT AS THE ACTUAL STEPs ON THE UPDATE TOOL

Here we go:

Part 1 - Is the warning. READ THIS! DO NOT REMOVE YOUR DATA CABLE DURING THE PROCESS OF UPDATING YOUR ROM!!!!!!!!

<Step 1 - double click on the icon shown

Step 2 - just press next

Step 3 - make sure the device listed says MPx220 and press next

Step 4 - AGAIN MAKE SURE THE BATTERY IS OUT OF THE PHONE DO NOT PLUG IN YOUR USB CABLE YET!

Step 5 - Click Browse

Step 6 -Find the folder your ROM file is saved in

Step 7 - If there is a "sub-folder" open it

Step 8 - double click on the .mlf file that is shown in the window (DOES NOT MEAN IT IS THE SAME AS IN SCREENSHOT)

Step 9 - Make sure it says the correct ROM version on this screen, if it doesn't re download the correct ROM that you want and start over, and press next

Step 10 - When this screen pops up YOU CAN PLUG IN THE USB CABLE... ACTUALLY... YOU HAVE TO :D and press OK

Step 11 - WAIT...WAIT...WAIT some more.... this can take up 15 minutes AT THE MOST it really doesn't take too long

Step 12 - When this screen comes up, YOU'RE DONE

Now unplug your phone and insert your battery, when you turn it on it will have a black screen saying "formatting!" DON'T WORRY! It is supposed to be there!
